Our home in the little town of Olhao on Portugal`s Algarve coast is another crumbling beauty (echoes of Spitalfields) that needs time and labour to nurse it back to life. Tall ceilings, tiled floors, shutters and a
quintal with soaring whitewashed walls are just some of the features we have restored and updated.
The feeling is calm and simple: a place to holiday and wind down in. Summer evenings are spent in candlelight around a makeshift wooden trestle table, grilling sardines , drinking cool
vinho verde and watching the swallows swoop in the inky blue dusk .
